Malang – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) participated in the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Islamic Medicine Forum (FOKI), which took place October 8–10, 2026, in Malang. The event’s theme was “Integrating Divine Revelation and Evidence-Based Medicine Toward the Standardization of Thibbun Nabawi in the Sharia Healthcare Ecosystem.”

The event was attended by the leadership of FK UMI, namely the Dean of FK UMI, Dr. dr. H. Andi Nasrudin Mappaware, Sp.OG(K), Subsp. Obginos, MARS, M.Sc., FISQua, AIFO-K, FISOG; First Associate Dean, Dr. dr. Ida Royani, M.Kes., MHPE, FFRI; Vice Dean 2, Dr. dr. Rachmat Faisal Syamsu, M.Kes., CIP, FISPH, FISCM; and Vice Dean 4, dr. Irna Diyana Kartika Kamaluddin, Sp.PK., M.Kes., Ph.D. The presence of these leaders represents the Faculty of Medicine at UMI’s participation in supporting the development of Islamic medicine and strengthening academic ties with various institutions dedicated to advancing health care grounded in Islamic values.

The 2026 FOKI Annual Meeting serves as a forum for academics and practitioners of Islamic medicine to strengthen the integration between revelatory values and the advancement of evidence-based medicine. The theme emphasized the importance of developing a healthcare approach that is in harmony with Islamic teachings, while also taking into account scientific advancements and modern medical practice standards.

For the UMI Faculty of Medicine, participation in this event is part of its efforts to broaden academic horizons and strengthen networks with institutions and professionals in the field of Islamic medicine. This forum also served as a space to exchange ideas regarding medical education, research, and the application of Islamic values in healthcare services.

Discussions regarding the standardization of Thibbun Nabawi within the Sharia healthcare ecosystem were a key focus of the meeting’s theme. Developing this approach requires structured and sustained research, so that an understanding of Islamic values can go hand in hand with the principles of safety, quality, and scientific evidence in healthcare practice.

Through the faculty leadership’s participation in the 2026 FOKI Annual Meeting, the UMI Faculty of Medicine continues to promote the development of medical education and scholarship that is not only oriented toward professional competence but also grounded in spiritual values and ethics. This aligns with the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to producing medical professionals who are professional, possess integrity, and are attentive to the needs of the community.

This participation is also expected to strengthen the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s contribution to the development of Islamic medicine and open opportunities for collaboration in the fields of education, research, and health services based on Sharia values. Thus, the UMI Faculty of Medicine can continue to play a role in building a healthcare ecosystem that integrates scientific knowledge, Islamic values, and humanitarian interests.
