MAKASSAR – The Rapid Response Team (TRC) of the Medical Assistance Team (TBM) 110 of the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) responded to a fire that broke out at Nipah Mall on Urip Sumoharjo Street in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
According to the TRC TBM 110 report, the fire reportedly broke out around 9:45 p.m. WITA on the second floor of Nipah Mall. The fire caused two warehouses to burn. As of this report, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
In the incident, two victims were reported to have experienced shortness of breath. This condition was a primary focus of the medical response at the scene.
Access to the scene was available to both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, allowing for smooth mobilization and response efforts in the surrounding area.
Firefighting efforts were carried out by the Makassar City Fire Department (Damkar). Relevant agencies were also involved in handling the incident, including TBM 110 FK UMI, Damkar, BPBD, Basarnas, the Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and local residents.
The response by the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s TBM 110 TRC is part of its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance, particularly in addressing emergencies and disasters within the community.
