UMI Faculty of Medicine Holds an Open Senate Meeting for the Graduation Ceremony, the Pledge of Medical Graduates, and the Physician’s Oath

Makassar – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) held an Open Senate Meeting in conjunction with the Graduation Ceremony for the Bestowal of the Bachelor of Medicine Degree and the Oath-Taking Ceremony for Medical Doctors on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Al-Jibra Auditorium of the University of Muslim Indonesia.

The Open Senate Meeting proceeded in a solemn atmosphere and was attended by the Rector of the University of Muslim Indonesia, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, S.H., M.H. The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG(K)., Subsp.Obginos., MARS., M.Sc., FISQua., AIFO-K, the Vice Deans, the Chair and Members of the Faculty Senate, heads of study programs, faculty members, educational staff, as well as the parents and families of the participants in the graduation ceremony and medical oath.

The event began with the opening of the Open Senate Meeting by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine. In his remarks, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG(K)., Subsp.Obginos., MARS., M.Sc., FISQua., AIFO-K, expressed his appreciation to all students who had completed their education with dedication and hard work. He emphasized that successfully completing their education marks the beginning of a great responsibility as healthcare professionals who must always uphold professionalism, professional ethics, and Islamic values—which are the hallmarks of the University of Muslim Indonesia.

“This milestone is not the end of the learning process, but rather the beginning of a long journey in serving the community. Be graduates of the UMI Faculty of Medicine who are not only outstanding in competence but also possess integrity, empathy, and noble character,” said the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine in his remarks.

On the same occasion, the Rector of the University of Muslim Indonesia, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, S.H., M.H., also delivered remarks and offered words of encouragement to the graduates. He congratulated all participants who successfully completed their education and reminded them that the medical profession is both noble and full of responsibility. According to him, the increasingly complex challenges in the healthcare sector demand doctors who can adapt to advancements in science and technology without compromising humanistic values and professional ethics.

“The success achieved today is the result of a long struggle that deserves gratitude. Use the knowledge you have gained as a foundation to benefit society and continue to uphold the good name of your alma mater, the University of Muslim Indonesia, wherever you serve,” said the UMI Rector.

The ceremony then continued with the reading of the Graduation Decision Letter for students in the Bachelor of Medicine program. A total of 39 students officially took the Medical Doctor’s Oath as a moral commitment to responsibly apply their knowledge, uphold humanistic values, and maintain the honor of the medical profession.

Next, 49 participants in the Medical Professional Program took the Physician’s Oath, which is the final step before officially practicing as doctors. During the ceremony, the new doctors took an oath to practice their profession in accordance with the medical code of ethics, prioritize patient safety, maintain medical confidentiality, and provide professional, high-quality healthcare services with integrity.

The holding of this Open Senate Meeting marks an important milestone for the UMI Faculty of Medicine in producing graduates who are ready to face the challenges of the healthcare world in the global era. Equipped not only with academic competence and clinical skills, the graduates are also expected to become doctors who demonstrate leadership, social responsibility, and who ground their service to the community in Islamic values.

Through this event, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Muslim Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment as a medical education institution that continuously strives to produce high-quality, professional, and competitive graduates, while also making tangible contributions to improving public health at the regional, national, and international levels.

The series of activities concluded with congratulations for all graduates, a group photo session, and a prayer expressing gratitude for the success achieved. It is hoped that the new medical graduates and doctors from the UMI Faculty of Medicine will become healthcare professionals who consistently prioritize professionalism, integrity, and a spirit of service in every step of their careers.
