BONE, January 4, 2026 – The Medical Assistance Team (TBM) 110 of the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) reaffirmed its commitment to boundless service through a health outreach program titled “Baksos Ekspedisi” in the remote area of Bonto Cani, Bone Regency, on January 3–4, 2026. This initiative represents a concrete effort by the UMI Faculty of Medicine to expand access to healthcare services for rural communities that have long faced limited access to medical facilities.
The outreach program, held in the hamlets of Cani, Jawi-Jawi, Buatening, and Tanete in Watang Cani Village, was initiated by a medical team from the UMI Faculty of Medicine under the coordination of the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin A.M., Sp.OG(K)., MARS., M.Sc., together with the Chair of TBM 110, A. Anugrah Ramadhan. The event also involved health workers from the Bonto Cani Community Health Center (Puskesmas) and received full support from the local government. From early in the morning, the community showed great enthusiasm as they took advantage of the various free health services provided.
The series of activities included mass circumcision, health checkups, health education, and home visits for residents in need of follow-up care. The mass circumcision program was one of the most popular services, particularly among school-age children, with all procedures performed by professional medical staff in accordance with safety and sterility standards. Meanwhile, health screenings included checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol, as well as medical consultations, medication distribution, and education on non-communicable diseases.
In addition to direct medical care, the TBM 110 team from the UMI Faculty of Medicine also provided health education on hypertension, diabetes, and uric acid, presented in a clear and accessible manner to ensure the community could easily understand the information. Given that the journey to the nearest health facility takes about three hours by road, the presence of the FK UMI medical team provides significant benefits to the residents. To ensure continuity of care, the team also conducts home visits to the elderly, patients with limited mobility, and residents with specific health conditions for follow-up examinations and family education.
It is hoped that this community service initiative will raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining good health while also strengthening access to medical services in the Bonto Cani area. Local government officials expressed their appreciation for the contribution of the UMI Faculty of Medicine and hope that similar activities can continue on an ongoing basis to help realize a healthy and prosperous community in Bone.
