Jakarta—The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) conducted a benchmarking visit with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Indonesia (UI) from January 29 to 31, 2025. This activity aimed to improve the quality of education, particularly regarding the e-learning system at the UMI Faculty of Medicine.
The delegation from the UMI Faculty of Medicine was led by Dean Dr. dr. Nasrudin A. M, Sp.OG(K), MARS, M.Sc., FISQua, AIFO-K, along with Vice Dean 2, dr. Shulhana Mokhtar, M.Med.Ed, Associate Dean 3, Dr. dr. Armanto Makmun, M.Kes, FISQUA, AIFO-K, as well as UPH Chairperson dr. Berry Erida Hasbi, Sp.B, and her team. The delegation from the UMI Faculty of Medicine was received directly by the Dean of the UI Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, Sp.PD-KGEH, MMB, as well as the First Associate Dean, Prof. Dr. dr. Dwiana Ocviyanti, SpOG(K), M.P.H., and the Head of E-Learning, Dr. dr. Aria Kekalih, M.T.I., along with their team.
During the meeting, various important topics were discussed, particularly regarding the implementation and development of the e-learning system at the UI Faculty of Medicine. Prof. Dr. dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, in his opening remarks, explained that the e-learning system at the UI Faculty of Medicine has developed rapidly and has become one of the key pillars in supporting the teaching and learning process amid advances in digital technology.
Dr. dr. Aria Kekalih, Chair of UI’s E-Learning Division, also provided a detailed explanation of the infrastructure and technology used, including the use of a Learning Management System (LMS) and how the system supports interactive, flexible, and data-driven learning that students can access anytime and anywhere.
In addition, the delegation from the UMI Faculty of Medicine also had the opportunity to discuss competency-based curriculum management and the development of technological facilities that could be implemented at the UMI Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Nasrudin, Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, stated that this visit is an important first step in efforts to improve the quality of education at the UMI Faculty of Medicine, particularly in addressing the challenges of an increasingly digital and technology-based medical education landscape.
“Through this benchmarking, we hope to gain valuable insights from the UI Faculty of Medicine, which is already a leader in the use of technology in medical education. We also hope to continue strengthening cooperation between the two institutions in the development of medical education in Indonesia,” said Dr. Nasrudin.
During the three-day event, various discussion sessions, visits to e-learning facilities, and the sharing of experiences and challenges faced in implementing educational technology in the field of medicine took place intensively. The UMI Faculty of Medicine hopes to promptly implement some of the insights gained to enhance the student learning experience and the quality of education on their campus.
This benchmarking activity concluded with a follow-up plan agreed upon by both parties, with the hope of strengthening collaboration in the fields of academics and educational technology in the future.
