Hiroshima, Japan – As part of a series of International Community Service activities, a team from the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) held a gathering with the Indonesian Muslim community at Kasumi Mosque in Hiroshima, Japan, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. Japan Standard Time.
The event featured a gathering, congregational prayer, a brief religious talk, and the presentation of aid in the form of UMI-printed copies of the Qur’an and funds for mosque maintenance from the University of Muslim Indonesia. The series of activities then continued with a dinner together in a warm, family-like atmosphere.
The event was attended by the UMI Faculty of Medicine team along with the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) Hiroshima, international students from the Hiroshima University School of Medicine, and Indonesian families residing in Hiroshima and the surrounding areas.
The donation of UMI-printed Qur’ans serves as a form of support for religious activities while also strengthening ties with the Indonesian Muslim community in Japan. Meanwhile, the mosque maintenance funds are expected to support the continuity of worship activities and the use of the mosque as a gathering place for local Muslims to foster social bonds.
In addition to serving as a place of worship, the Kasumi Mosque functions as a meeting space that brings together students, families, and members of the Muslim community from diverse backgrounds. Through this initiative, the UMI Faculty of Medicine team had the opportunity to build closer ties with the Indonesian community in Hiroshima while strengthening a sense of togetherness amid life abroad.
The holding of congregational prayers and religious talks added a spiritual dimension to this series of international community service activities. These activities demonstrate that community service is not limited to health-related aspects but can also be realized through social outreach, religious support, and the strengthening of inter-community ties.
The closing dinner served as an opportunity to strengthen communication and camaraderie among the UMI Faculty of Medicine team, Indonesian students, international students, and families of Indonesian origin. These interactions are expected to strengthen social networks and open avenues for ongoing collaboration and fellowship.
Through this International Community Service program, the UMI Faculty of Medicine, together with the Indonesian Muslim University, continues to strive to deliver impactful community service, expand cross-border relationships, and strengthen the values of togetherness and care for the Indonesian community abroad.
