Makassar – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) held an Academic Contract and Networking Event for Parents, Academic Advisors (DPA), the Executive Board of the Parents and Faculty Association (POMD), and the Class of 2026 freshmen. The event took place at the Al Jibra Auditorium on the University of Muslim Indonesia campus in Makassar.

This event serves as a crucial milestone in launching the academic journey of FK UMI’s new students. Through the academic contract, students are expected to understand their responsibilities, commitments, and the regulations they must adhere to while pursuing their medical education. This understanding forms the foundation for cultivating discipline, integrity, and responsibility throughout the learning process.

Additionally, this event served as a forum for building relationships among students’ parents, Academic Advisors (DPA), POMD executives, and new students. The meeting was intended to foster effective communication between the faculty and students’ families in supporting academic success throughout their studies.

The role of parents is a crucial factor in supporting students as they face various challenges during their higher education, particularly in the field of medicine, which demands academic readiness, discipline, and the ability to manage time and responsibilities. Family support, coupled with effective communication with the faculty, is expected to help students navigate their educational journey optimally.

In practice, Academic Advisors play a role in providing guidance and support to students regarding their academic progress. Through ongoing communication and consultation, students are expected to receive guidance in planning their studies, evaluating their academic progress, and addressing any obstacles that may arise during the learning process.

The involvement of the Student Parents and Faculty Association (POMD) is also part of the effort to strengthen the partnership between students’ families and the academic community. This synergy is expected to create a supportive, communicative educational environment focused on developing students’ potential.

Through these academic contract and networking activities, the UMI Faculty of Medicine emphasizes the importance of collaboration among students, parents, faculty members, and faculty administrators in building a high-quality educational process. Good cooperation among all parties is expected to support the development of future doctors who are competent, professional, have integrity, and are committed to serving the community.

This event also serves as a first step for the incoming Class of 2026 to familiarize themselves with the academic environment at the UMI Faculty of Medicine and to understand the importance of a shared commitment to pursuing a medical education. With continuous support and guidance, students are expected to pursue their education with a sense of responsibility and uphold the ethical values and professionalism of the medical profession.
