Makassar – The Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muslim Indonesia (UMI), organized the Solidarity of Human Wellness (SOUL) 2026 event on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the Center Point of Indonesia (CPI) Business Park, Jalan Metro Tanjung Bunga, Makassar. This event served as a demonstration of medical students’ commitment to raising public awareness about the importance of maintaining good health and taking steps to prevent disease.

The SOUL 2026 event featured two main activities: health education and HIV testing, carried out in collaboration with Intimuda South Sulawesi. Both activities were part of an effort to improve public health literacy through the dissemination of information and to promote awareness of the importance of health screenings.

Health education is a crucial aspect of building a community that is more attentive to its health. Through the dissemination of accurate information, the public is expected to gain a better understanding of the importance of maintaining good health, recognizing disease risks, and taking preventive measures in their daily lives.

In addition to health education, the HIV testing conducted in collaboration with Intimuda South Sulawesi serves as a form of support for raising public awareness about HIV. This testing is expected to encourage the public to better understand the importance of knowing their health status, getting tested as needed, and obtaining accurate information about HIV.

Efforts to raise awareness about HIV must also be accompanied by a solid understanding so that the public does not fall prey to misinformation or stigma toward people living with HIV. Therefore, health education and screenings play a vital role in fostering a more open, caring, and responsible attitude toward one’s own health and that of the surrounding community.

The collaboration between AMSA KBMFK UMI and Intimuda Sulsel in this initiative further highlights the importance of cooperation between students and the community in supporting health promotion. This synergy is expected to expand the reach of health education while encouraging community participation in various activities aimed at improving quality of life.

Through SOUL 2026, AMSA KBMFK UMI also strengthens the role of medical students as members of the community who care about health issues. Student involvement in health education and screening activities is one way to apply medical knowledge to directly benefit the community.

This initiative aligns with the importance of promotive and preventive approaches in healthcare—specifically through knowledge enhancement, awareness-building, and encouragement to take preventive measures early on. Consequently, the public is expected to increasingly understand that maintaining health is not limited to addressing symptoms but also involves appropriate education and screenings.

Through the organization of Solidarity of Human Wellness (SOUL) 2026, AMSA KBMFK UMI, together with Intimuda Sulsel, is expected to continue contributing to improving public health literacy, strengthening awareness of disease prevention, and fostering an environment that is more mindful of the importance of health. This event is part of a spirit of solidarity and collaboration aimed at creating a healthier and more caring community.
