Makassar – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) has once again strengthened its presence on the international stage through its participation in the 7th USIM International Health Conference (IHEC), held on October 7–8, 2026. The event, organized by Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), also featured the University of Muslim Indonesia (UMI) as a co-host. At this international conference, the FK UMI team was entrusted with the responsibility of contributing as speakers, delivering oral presentations, and presenting posters. This involvement serves as a tangible demonstration of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s contribution to international academic forums, while also providing an opportunity to share knowledge, research findings, and experiences in the fields of medicine and health.
The UMI Faculty of Medicine team participating in the event was led by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Andi Nasrudin Mappaware, Sp.OG(K), Subsp. Obginos, MARS, M.Sc., FISQua, AIFO-K, FISOG, along with the Second Vice Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Rachmat Faisal Syamsu, M.Kes., CIP, FISPH, FISCM.
In addition to the faculty leadership, several UMI Faculty of Medicine faculty members also participated in the conference activities, namely Dr. Shulhana Mokhtar, M.Med.Ed., Dr. Yusriani Mangarengi, M.Kes., Dr. Andi Sitti Fahirah Arsal, M.Kes., Dr. Arina Fathiyyah Arifin, M.Kes., and Dr. Santriani Hadi, M.Kes. The presence of these faculty members demonstrates the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to encouraging the academic community to actively engage in scientific forums, both at the national and international levels.
Participating as speakers provided the UMI Faculty of Medicine with an opportunity to share academic perspectives and experiences with conference participants from diverse backgrounds. Meanwhile, participation in oral and poster presentations served as a platform to present ideas and the results of scientific research conducted by the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s academic community.
This conference also served as an important milestone in strengthening institutional ties between UMI and USIM, particularly in the fields of medical education, research, scientific development, and health collaboration. UMI’s Faculty of Medicine’s participation in this event is expected to open broader opportunities for knowledge exchange and the development of international academic cooperation.
