The UMI Faculty of Medicine kicked off the first day of classes for the Class of 2026 with a group Dhuha prayer

The UMI Faculty of Medicine held a congregational Duha prayer with the incoming class of 2026 students at the new UMI Faculty of Medicine Sports Center building, led directly by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, as part of an effort to foster character development and reinforce Islamic values from the very beginning of their academic studies.

Makassar – The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Muslim Indonesia (FK UMI) held a congregational Duha prayer with the FK UMI Class of 2026 freshmen at the New Building of the FK UMI Sports Center on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

The event, held on the 6th floor of the new FK UMI Sports Center building, was part of an effort to foster character development and reinforce Islamic values among new students as they begin their studies at the Faculty of Medicine. The event began at 7:00 a.m. WITA.

During the event, the congregational Duha prayer was led directly by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Andi Nasrudin Mappaware, Sp.OG, Subsp. Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc, FISQua, AIFO-K, FISOG, and was attended by all UMI Faculty of Medicine freshmen of the Class of 2026 with solemnity and order in the new building—a source of pride for the UMI Faculty of Medicine.

The presence of the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, who personally led this event, served as both an example and a source of motivation for the new students to consistently cultivate a habit of drawing closer to Allah SWT amidst the busyness of pursuing their medical studies.

This event serves as an important milestone in fostering spiritual discipline and strengthening the bond between faculty leadership and new students from the very beginning of their academic journey. Through the practice of acts of worship such as congregational Duha prayer, new students are expected to begin their medical education with blessings and dedication.

This congregational Duha prayer also serves as a tangible expression of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to instilling Islamic values among the entire academic community, particularly new students. Spiritual and ethical values instilled from an early stage—through the direct example set by faculty leadership—are expected to form a strong foundation for shaping the character of outstanding Muslim doctors, both academically, clinically, and morally.

This congregational Duha prayer with the Class of 2026 freshmen is a tangible manifestation of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s dedication to providing an education grounded in Islamic principles. This spirit aligns with the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to continuously produce a generation of Muslim doctors of strong character, noble ethics, and readiness to serve the community.
