Palopo – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI), together with the Ibnu Sina YW-UMI Main Teaching Hospital, conducted a visit and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with St. Madyang General Hospital in Palopo. This activity is part of FK UMI’s efforts to expand its network of cooperation with healthcare facilities to support improvements in the quality of medical education.
The visit served as a significant milestone in strengthening institutional ties between FK UMI, the Ibnu Sina YW-UMI Primary Teaching Hospital, and St. Madyang General Hospital in Palopo. Through this established collaboration, the three institutions are expected to create synergy in supporting clinical education and the development of medical students’ competencies.
The signing of the MoU represents a shared commitment to developing cooperation in the field of education, particularly in providing clinical learning opportunities for UMI Faculty of Medicine students. The presence of partner hospitals plays a vital role in providing students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.
Through site visits, the UMI Faculty of Medicine can also directly assess the potential and readiness of St. Madyang General Hospital in Palopo City to support the clinical education process. The hospital environment serves as a vital learning space for students to integrate the knowledge gained during their academic studies with clinical skills when addressing various patient conditions.
It is hoped that this collaboration will not only focus on clinical education but will also expand into other mutually supportive areas, such as research, community service, enhancing the competencies of healthcare workers, and improving the quality of healthcare services.
For the UMI Faculty of Medicine, strengthening the network of teaching hospitals is part of its commitment to providing high-quality medical education that is relevant to community needs. With an expanding network of clinical training sites, students are expected to gain more diverse experiences and develop competencies in line with medical education standards.
In addition to benefiting students, this collaboration is also expected to have a positive impact on St. Madyang General Hospital in Palopo through strengthened ties with medical education institutions.
