Dili, Timor-Leste – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting the internationalization of higher education through its participation in the “Silaturahmi” gathering of the Indonesian Muslim University leadership alongside three health sciences faculties: the Faculty of Medicine (FK), the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), and the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF), with the Education Attaché of the Republic of Indonesia in Dili, Timor-Leste, on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
The meeting also served as a forum for discussion on strengthening cooperation in higher education, promoting academic programs, and developing academic networks in the Southeast Asian region. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, UMI’s leadership, along with the deans of the health sciences faculties, highlighted the various strengths of the educational programs offered by the Indonesian Muslim University, particularly in the field of health. In addition to introducing the quality of education, learning facilities, and the teaching hospital, this meeting also served as a means to expand access to education for prospective international students, particularly those from Timor-Leste.
Following the get-together, the agenda continued with the International Admissions Selection Process for applicants from Timor-Leste. This selection process is part of the University of Muslim Indonesia’s commitment to opening broader opportunities for international students to pursue their education at UMI, while simultaneously strengthening UMI’s position as a university focused on internationalization.
The selection process was conducted through stages established by the university to ensure that prospective students possess academic competencies that meet admission standards. Through this international track, UMI hopes to produce graduates who not only possess outstanding academic competence but are also capable of serving as bridges for international cooperation and friendship.
The Faculty of Medicine’s participation in this initiative demonstrates its commitment to supporting the University of Muslim Indonesia’s vision of becoming a leading institution with global competitiveness, capable of making tangible contributions to the development of education and healthcare services at the international level.
Through this networking event and the selection of international students, it is hoped that the good relationship between the University of Muslim Indonesia and Timor-Leste will continue to be fostered and develop into various forms of collaboration that benefit both parties, particularly in improving the quality of human resources in the health sector.
