UMI Faculty of Medicine Holds Selection Process for Prospective Male and Female Tahfizh Students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

Makassar, UMI Faculty of Medicine – The Vice Rector IV of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI), Dr. KH. Muhammad Ishaq Samad, MA, officially opened the Selection Process for Prospective Tahfizh Students/Tahfizhah at the UMI Faculty of Medicine for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, which took place in the Prof. Dr. Hj. Masrurah Mokhtar Auditorium at the Center for Character Development and Da’wah (PKD) on UMI’s Campus II. This event is part of UMI’s commitment to recruiting prospective students who are not only academically outstanding but also possess the ability to memorize the Qur’an and strong Islamic character.

The selection process was attended by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, Sp.OG(K)., Subsp. Obginsos., MARS., M.Sc., FISQua., AIFO-K, the Vice Deans of UMI’s Faculty of Medicine, the Head of UMI’s PKD Unit, and the panel of examiners tasked with evaluating the participants’ abilities.

In his remarks, Dr. KH. Muhammad Ishaq Samad emphasized that the Tahfizh/Tahfizhah program is one of UMI’s flagship programs aimed at fostering an outstanding Qur’anic generation—one of strong character and capable of serving as role models within the community. According to him, higher education should not only focus on mastering science and technology but must also be accompanied by the reinforcement of Islamic values as the foundation for shaping students’ character.

“UMI remains committed to producing graduates who are not only intellectually gifted but also possess integrity, noble character, and who make the Qur’an their guide in life and their profession,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, explained that the Tahfizh/Tahfizhah admission track is one way the UMI Faculty of Medicine shows its appreciation for young people who have the ability to memorize the Qur’an and are interested in pursuing a medical education.

According to him, the UMI Faculty of Medicine continues to strive to implement a selection system capable of identifying the best prospective students from various admission tracks, including the merit-based track and the Tahfizh/Tahfizhah track. Previously, the UMI Faculty of Medicine had also conducted selection processes through the pre-regular track, the merit-based track, and the regular track as part of the new student admission process for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Through this selection process, participants will undergo a series of assessment stages covering memorization skills, Quran recitation, and other supporting aspects that serve as indicators in the selection process for Tahfizh/Tahfizhah prospective students.

The UMI Faculty of Medicine’s Tahfizh/Tahfizhah program is expected to produce future doctors who are not only outstanding in academic and professional fields but also possess a Qur’anic character, noble ethics, and the ability to make positive contributions to society, the nation, and the Muslim community.

Through this program, the UMI Faculty of Medicine reaffirms its commitment as a medical education institution that integrates academic excellence with Islamic values to produce professional doctors of character who make a positive impact on society.
