Makassar, UMI Faculty of Medicine – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) concluded its series of events commemorating its 34th anniversary with a zikir session, a joint prayer, the signing of a cooperation agreement, and a sunnah iftar, which took place at the Sport Center in the New Building of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Monday (June 8, 2026). This event served as the culmination of the anniversary celebrations and a moment of reflection on FK UMI’s 34-year journey in advancing medical education, healthcare services, research, and community service.

The event was attended by representatives of the UMI Waqf Foundation, university leadership, the UMI Faculty of Medicine academic community, alumni, educational staff, partner teaching hospitals, and various stakeholders who have been integral to the journey and development of the UMI Faculty of Medicine.

The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG(K)., Subsp. Obginsos., MARS., M.Sc., FISQua., AIFO-K, stated that this year’s anniversary celebration was intentionally organized with a spiritual theme as an expression of gratitude for the various achievements the UMI Faculty of Medicine has attained over more than three decades.

“Reaching our 34th year is a moment to give thanks and to strengthen our commitment to providing medical education that is excellent, Islamic, and impactful for the community. All the achievements we have attained today are the result of collaboration between the foundation, the university, the academic community, alumni, and FK UMI’s strategic partners,” he said.

In addition to the collective zikir and prayer session, the event also featured the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various partners as part of efforts to expand collaborative networks in the fields of education, research, healthcare services, and human resource development. This step aligns with the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to continuously strengthen the institution’s competitiveness toward international-standard medical education.

The Chair of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s 34th Anniversary Committee, Dr. Muh. Fauzul Azhim, M.K.K., explained that the entire series of anniversary activities was designed to have a tangible impact on both the academic community and the broader public. These range from a Studium Generale and Alumni Inspiration Sessions, a Fun Walk and Community Service activities in the Car Free Day zone, to religious activities during the anniversary’s culminating celebration.

“The 34th anniversary is not merely a celebration of the faculty’s founding, but a moment to strengthen unity, collaboration, and the spirit of service in realizing a UMI Faculty of Medicine that continues to benefit society,” he stated.

The theme “UMI Faculty of Medicine Makes an Impact,” adopted for the 34th anniversary, reflects the institution’s commitment to producing healthcare professionals who excel academically, possess social sensitivity, and are grounded in Islamic values. This spirit is realized through various academic programs, healthcare services, research, and community service initiatives that are continuously developed to address the needs of the community and the challenges of the healthcare sector in the future.

As it enters its 34th year, FK UMI continues to solidify its role as a medical education institution that is excellent, adaptive, and focused on making a positive impact. Driven by a spirit of collaboration, innovation, and Islamic values, the UMI Faculty of Medicine is confident that it can continue to contribute to producing professional, principled doctors capable of making a positive impact on national and global health development.
