Makassar, June 4, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) hosted a benchmarking visit from Darussalam Gontor University (UNIDA Gontor) to share experiences and strengthen the implementation of the Boarding System University concept. The event took place in the Dr. Chaerudin Lakare Senate Room on the first floor of FK UMI on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
As an institution with a vision of being a campus of knowledge and worship, struggle and service, FK UMI continues to strive to improve the quality of educational governance through various academic and non-academic innovations. One of the key development focuses highlighted during this event was the implementation of a student mentoring system integrated with the campus environment and character building through the boarding university approach.
During the discussion session, the two institutions shared best practices regarding educational management, student mentoring, the development of academic culture, and strategies for continuous quality improvement. Additionally, they discussed potential areas of collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service.
The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine stated that this benchmarking activity is part of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to continuously learn and adapt to various higher education management models that have proven to have a positive impact on student and institutional development.
Through this activity, it is hoped that a stronger synergy will be built between the UMI Faculty of Medicine and Darussalam Gontor University in realizing higher education that is excellent, character-building, and capable of producing graduates who are competent and competitive at both the national and international levels.
The benchmarking activity concluded with a group photo session and the exchange of commemorative gifts as a symbol of the strengthened institutional relationship between the two institutions.
