Makassar, FK UMI – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) will celebrate its 34th anniversary in 2026. Under the theme “FK UMI Makes an Impact,” this year’s anniversary celebration serves as a moment for reflection and for reinforcing the institution’s contributions in the fields of education, research, healthcare, and community service. The schedule of events for FK UMI’s 34th anniversary includes academic, social, and spiritual activities taking place from June 6–8, 2026.
The Dean of FK UMI, Dr. H. Nasruddin AM, Sp.OG(K)., Subsp. Obginsos, MARS, MSc, FISQua, AIFO-K, stated that reaching its 34th year marks a strategic milestone for the UMI Faculty of Medicine to strengthen its transformation into a world-class medical school with global competitiveness.
According to him, the various achievements made so far—including its “excellent” accreditation status and the development of new educational programs—serve as a crucial foundation for realizing the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s vision as a medical education institution with an international reputation.
“We are targeting international accreditation as a strategic step toward global competitiveness. The UMI Faculty of Medicine is also continuing to strengthen its educational capacity through the development of new study programs and the improvement of human resource quality,” he said.
As part of the 34th anniversary celebrations, the UMI Faculty of Medicine will hold a Studium Generale on June 6, 2026, at the UMI Al-Jibra Auditorium. The event is expected to attract approximately 1,500 participants, including doctors, medical graduates, students, and healthcare workers, and will serve as a forum for exchanging ideas on current health issues and developments in the medical field.
In addition to academic activities, the UMI Faculty of Medicine also offers various community service programs, including free health checkups, blood drives, fitness exercises, leisurely walks, basic life support (BLS) simulations, and education on the prevention of non-communicable diseases. These activities represent a concrete implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which the UMI Faculty of Medicine consistently prioritizes.
The Chair of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s 34th Anniversary Committee, Dr. Muh. Fauzul Azhim, M.Kes, explained that the entire series of activities was designed not only for the academic community but also to provide direct benefits to the public.
“The 34th Anniversary of the UMI Faculty of Medicine is not merely a ceremony, but a moment to strengthen collaboration, social responsibility, and tangible contributions to public health development,” he explained.
As an institution that upholds Islamic values, the 34th Anniversary of the UMI Faculty of Medicine will also conclude with a social gathering, a communal iftar, zikir, and collective prayer involving the academic community, alumni, and institutional partners. The tradition of collective remembrance of God and prayer is part of UMI’s academic culture, aimed at strengthening spiritual values and fostering gratitude for the achievements attained.
Through this 34th anniversary celebration, the UMI Faculty of Medicine reaffirms its commitment to continuing to provide medical education that is excellent, Islamic, innovative, and impactful for the community, the nation, and the international community.
