Makassar, http://fk.umi.ac.id/">fk.umi.ac.id — The Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) has once again achieved a strategic milestone at the international level. In 2026, UMI was officially designated as the administering university for the Developing Countries Partnership Scholarship (KNB Scholarship) program by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
This designation is outlined in Letter No. 0409/B3/KM.00.01/2026 from the Directorate General of Higher Education, dated January 23, 2026, following UMI’s successful completion of a rigorous national selection process. With this decision, UMI becomes the only private university (PTS) in Eastern Indonesia entrusted with administering the 2026 KNB Scholarship.
The KNB Scholarship Program is a prestigious scholarship offered by the Indonesian government intended for international students from various developing countries to pursue higher education in Indonesia. Through this program, UMI provides access to global education at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels through its flagship study programs, including a Doctor of Law, a Master of Public Health, and bachelor’s degrees in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communication Studies, and Accounting.
UMI’s Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, S.H., M.H., stated that this trust represents a significant responsibility as well as recognition of UMI’s academic quality and institutional governance.
“This designation is proof of UMI’s consistency in maintaining the quality of higher education and its international reputation. We accept it with gratitude and a sense of responsibility,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of UMI’s Office of International Affairs (KUI), Ir. Hj. Setyawati Yani, ST., MT., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., emphasized that UMI’s readiness to administer the KNB Scholarship is supported by its extensive experience in managing international students as well as a professional and inclusive academic service system.
This achievement further strengthens UMI’s position as a leading university in Eastern Indonesia, while reaffirming UMI’s commitment to providing access to a global education that is high-quality, character-building, and internationally competitive.
