Makassar, http://fk.umi.ac.id/">fk.umi.ac.id– The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) also achieved a notable accomplishment at the 2026 Peduli Indonesia Award, organized by Herald.id. At the event, the Dean of FK UMI, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, Sp.OG(K)., MARS., M.Sc., FISQua., AIFO-K, received the Medical Disaster Response Award for his dedication and leadership in providing medical care during various disaster situations. He was represented by the 4th Vice Dean, Dr. dr. Rachmat Faisal Syamsu, M.Kes, CIP, FISPH, FISCM.
The award ceremony was held at the Sandeq Ballroom of the Claro Hotel in Makassar on Friday, January 23, 2026, and was attended by education leaders, healthcare professionals, members of the press, and social activists from various regions across Indonesia.
The Award for Outstanding Higher Education Institutions with National Impact was received by the Rector of UMI, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, S.H., M.H. This award was given in recognition of UMI’s role in building a higher education institution that excels academically, while also making tangible contributions to society through various programs aligned with the three pillars of higher education.
Meanwhile, the Humanist Intellectual Award for Driving Social Awareness and Innovation was presented to UMI’s Vice Rector II, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Zakir Sabara, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng. He was recognized for consistently initiating and developing innovative social programs that sustainably integrate academic knowledge, institutional governance, and social responsibility.
This award was presented in recognition of the UMI Faculty of Medicine Dean’s contributions in coordinating emergency medical services, strengthening the role of healthcare workers, and fostering the active involvement of the UMI Faculty of Medicine academic community in humanitarian efforts, particularly in disaster response across various regions.
These achievements are inseparable from the role of the UMI Faculty of Medicine academic community and the UMI Faculty of Medicine Student Association (KBM FK UMI), who have consistently been involved in humanitarian activities through various student organizations, including TBM 110 FK UMI, BEM, DMP, DPM, as well as networks of international and national student organizations such as AMSA UMI and the UMI Chapter of AMDA Indonesia.
The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine stated that this award is a trust and a form of recognition for the collective efforts of all members of the UMI Faculty of Medicine in implementing humanitarian values and medical professionalism.
“We dedicate this award to and on behalf of the entire academic community of the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the UMI Faculty of Medicine Student Body, who are always present and contribute to humanitarian service. May this serve as motivation to continue serving with integrity and compassion,” he said.
It is hoped that this award will further strengthen the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to developing excellent medical education that is oriented toward humanitarian values and responsive to the needs of the community and disaster situations.
