Konawe Overflows with Enthusiasm! UMI Faculty of Medicine’s 2025 Grand Community Service Event Breaks Records for Resident Enthusiasm

Konawe, November 29, 2025 — The Uepai Village Soccer Field was the center of activity on Saturday (November 29, 2025) when the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) in Makassar held its 2025 Grand Social Service Event under the theme “We Are Here, We Care, We Serve.” This event was made possible through a collaboration between FK UMI, the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government, the Konawe Regency Government, Konawe Regional General Hospital, the Health Department, the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), as well as sub-district officials and the community.

Thousands of residents received comprehensive health services, ranging from general checkups, 12 specialist clinics, laboratory services, blood donation, mass circumcision, ultrasound (USG) and IVA screenings, to seminars on stunting and tuberculosis (TB). Nutritional aid, locally produced infant formula, and special packages for pregnant women were also distributed.

The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasruddin Andi Mappaware, Sp.OG(K)., MARS., M.Sc., AIFO-K, expressed his appreciation for the community’s high level of enthusiasm. The circumcision target, initially set at 35–50 participants, surged to nearly 70. The local government provided full support; the Konawe Regional Secretary even requested that all residents continue to be served despite exceeding the quota and proposed the procurement of a clinic ambulance and a portable ultrasound machine for coastal areas.

In addition to health services, Basic Life Support (BLS) training was held at two locations: the Ambodua (Asinua) Subdistrict Office and the Lalonggowuna (Tongauna) Village Hall.

The event was attended by the Konawe Regional Secretary, the Head of the Health Office, the Director of the Konawe Regional General Hospital, the Chair of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, subdistrict heads, village officials, members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri), healthcare workers, student organizations, and members of the public.

The UMI Faculty of Medicine’s 2025 Grand Social Service Event serves as a tangible manifestation of cross-institutional synergy aimed at improving the health of the Konawe community and is expected to continue in the years to come.
