Makassar, October 26, 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) held the Inaugural Night for the Class of 2025 at the Lily Ballroom, Four Points by Sheraton Makassar Hotel, on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The event, which took place in a warm, family-like atmosphere with Islamic themes, marked an important milestone in the new students’ journey with the unveiling of their class name, “Vertebralis”—inspired by the structure of the spine as a symbol of strength, resilience, and unity. The event began with a rendition of the qasidah “Thola’al Badru ‘Alaina” and a welcoming dance that embodied the spirit of harmony between cultural values and spirituality—a reflection of the distinctive character of the UMI Faculty of Medicine as a medical education institution grounded in Islamic values.

In his remarks, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasruddin Andi Mappaware, Sp.OG, Subsp.Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc, FISQua, AIFO-K, stated that this event serves as a platform for fostering relationships among faculty leadership, academic advisors, parents, and new students to strengthen academic communication from the very beginning. He emphasized that synergy between the university and families is a crucial foundation for students’ success throughout their education. “We hope that the Class of 2025, ‘Vertebralis,’ will grow into a generation of doctors who are knowledgeable, of good character, and ready to serve the community. God willing, they will graduate with bachelor’s degrees in 2029,” he said optimistically.
