Makassar, 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University continues to strengthen its commitment to producing medical professionals who are not only academically and clinically skilled but also possess Islamic moral values. The concept of the “Mukhsin Doctor”—that is, a doctor who is professional, compassionate, and upholds Islamic values—serves as the cornerstone for curriculum development and character building among medical students at UMI. These efforts are carried out through various programs that strengthen moral integrity, empathy, and a healthcare service ethos rooted in “rahmatan lil ‘alamin” (a blessing for all creation), ensuring that UMI Faculty of Medicine graduates are prepared to serve as healthcare professionals who benefit the broader community.
The material on reinforcing the values of the “Mukhsin Physician” was presented by Dr. dr. Rachmat Faisal Syamsu, M.Kes, CIP, FISPH, FISCM, an academic and public health practitioner actively involved in the development of values-based medical professionalism. In his presentation, he emphasized that future doctors must be able to address global health challenges without losing their spiritual and moral identity. Through continuous professional development programs, the UMI Faculty of Medicine ensures that every aspiring doctor possesses strong character, high competence, and an awareness that the medical profession is a humanitarian trust. These are the distinctive strengths that characterize UMI’s medical graduates: excellence in knowledge, global competitiveness, and Islamic character.
