Makassar — A total of 11 new students at the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) received the Hafidz Hafidzah Scholarship for the 2025 academic year. This scholarship is awarded as a token of appreciation for students who have memorized the entire 30 juz of the Qur’an.
The scholarship was symbolically presented in the 5th-floor auditorium of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, located on Jalan Urip Sumoharjo in Makassar. Of the total recipients, four students received full scholarships—covering 100 percent of tuition through graduation—with a total value of Rp2.7 billion, while the other seven received 50 percent scholarships totaling Rp2.4 billion.
The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG(K)., Subsp.Obginos., MARS., M.Sc., FISQua., AIFO-K, stated that the awarding of these scholarships is not only a form of recognition but also serves as motivation for other students to continue excelling. He added that the UMI Faculty of Medicine has distributed hafiz and hafizah scholarship funds totaling Rp136 billion since the program began in 2019.
One of the scholarship recipients, Nurafandi, said he was proud to be part of this program. He explained that the selection process evaluates not only memorization but also Islamic knowledge and personal commitment.
“At UMI, we learn that medicine is not merely the science of healing, but also a path of worship. I come from a modest family. Without this scholarship, I might not have been able to study at the Faculty of Medicine. I want to prove that scholarship recipients can also become professional doctors with noble character,”
