Makassar, June 15, 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) has once again been entrusted to host a national medical event. This time, the UMI Faculty of Medicine has been entrusted with organizing the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Islamic Medicine Forum (FOKI).

This nationwide event will be attended by delegations from medical faculties at various Islamic universities—both public and private—located throughout Indonesia. The entire series of events will be held in the 5th-floor auditorium of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, located on Jalan Urip Sumohardjo in Makassar, on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

This important forum carried the theme: “FOKI
Advancing Islamic Medical Education and Research Through Collaborative Excellence for Enhanced Shariah-Compliant Healthcare Services,
” which aims to strengthen collaboration, improve the quality of medical education based on Islamic values, and promote healthcare services aligned with Shariah principles.

FOKI Chair Dr. Iwang Yusuf, M.Si, in his opening remarks, expressed appreciation for UMI’s contributions in supporting FOKI’s initiatives to date. “Thank

you to the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine for facilitating and supporting FOKI’s activities, particularly this year’s Annual Meeting. This is tangible proof of UMI’s commitment to the development of Islamic medical education in Indonesia,” he said.

UMI Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, MH, noted that the FOKI Annual Meeting serves not only as a platform for reflecting on annual achievements but also as a strategic opportunity to design future development programs for Islamic medical faculties.

“This forum is a tangible manifestation of the commitment of the leadership of the Faculty of Islamic Medicine—not only to discuss medical science but also to address spiritual, ethical, and humanitarian aspects as the foundation of holistic healthcare,” he emphasized.

He added that UMI, as an educational and da’wah institution with “EXCELLENT” accreditation, remains committed to supporting the development of medical science and technology grounded in Islamic values.

The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasruddin AM., Sp.OG.Subsp.Obginsos., MARS., M.Sc., FISQua., AIFO-K, expressed his gratitude for the renewed trust placed in the UMI Faculty of Medicine following its successful hosting of the 2025 AFKSI National Congress.

““Alhamdulillah, after we successfully concluded the AFKSI National Congress yesterday, today we have once again been entrusted to host the FOKI Annual Meeting. This is both an honor and a great responsibility for us,” he explained.

He emphasized that this event is part of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s broader mission to make a tangible contribution to religion and the nation through education and healthcare services grounded in Islamic values.

““We want to produce graduates who are not only outstanding in medical science but also possess noble character and are grounded in Islamic values,” he asserted.
