Sinjai – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting health education and introducing the field of medicine to high school students. This time, FK UMI held an event titled “Roadshow, Health Seminar, and Medical School Mock Exam” at the Sinjai Regent’s Office on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

The event was officially opened by the Regent of Sinjai, represented by First Assistant for Government Affairs, A. Irwansyah Yusuf, S.STP, M.Si, and was also attended by the Head of the Sinjai Regency Education Office, Irwan Suaib, S.STP, M.Si. In his remarks, A. Irwansyah Yusuf, S.STP, M.Si, expressed appreciation for the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s contribution to improving health literacy among students.

“This is a positive step that deserves recognition. This event not only provides information about the field of medicine but also equips participants with important knowledge regarding mental and reproductive health,” he said.

The event continued with a presentation by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin A. Mappaware, Sp.OG(K), M.Kes., M.Sc., FISQua, who discussed the topic of Adolescent Reproductive Health. In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of early education so that the younger generation has a correct and responsible understanding of the reproductive system.

In addition, the seminar also featured a speaker from the field of psychiatry, Dr. Muhammad Wirasto Ismail, Sp.KJ, who presented on “Mental Health in Adolescents.” Participants were guided to understand the various psychological challenges students often face, as well as how to maintain mental health in a wise and holistic manner.

One participant, a 12th-grade student, enthusiastically shared her thoughts: “The activity was fun and not stuffy. We got to learn about things that are rarely discussed in school. It really felt like this wasn’t just an ordinary seminar, but one that truly encouraged us to think and understand ourselves.”

Following the seminar session, the event continued with a mock Medical School entrance exam, attended by 280 high school and Islamic high school students from across Sinjai Regency. This practice exam aimed to provide an initial overview of the medical school admissions process, while also assessing the participants’ academic readiness.

The event was also attended by the Third Vice Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Armanto Makmun, M.Kes., FISQua., FISPH., FISCM., AIFO-K, and the Head of the UMI Faculty of Medicine Production House Unit, Dr. Berry Erida Hasbi, Sp.B, as well as the Deputy Head of the Production House Unit, Dr. Utomo Andi Pangnguriseng, Ph.D, along with faculty members and students from the UMI Faculty of Medicine who were actively involved throughout the event.

Through this event, the UMI Faculty of Medicine reaffirmed its role not only as an academic institution but also as an active agent of change in spreading educational and inspirational values to every corner of the region. Sinjai is one of several key locations in the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s outreach mission, serving as a tangible expression of its commitment to nurturing a healthy, intelligent, and highly competitive younger generation.
