Bone – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) once again reached out to the younger generation through an event titled “Roadshow, Practice Test, and Health Seminar,” held today, Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Bone Regent’s Office in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi.

The event was officially opened by the Deputy Regent of Bone, Dr. H. Andi Akmal Pasluddin, SP., M.M., who expressed his deep appreciation for FK UMI’s contribution to educating local students and equipping them with relevant health education.

“The UMI Faculty of Medicine not only promotes medical education but also addresses important aspects of adolescent life, such as mental and reproductive health. This is a tangible form of service that deserves recognition,” said the Deputy Regent.

Next, remarks were delivered by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin A Mappaware, Sp.OG(K)., M.Kes., M.Sc., FISQua, who also presented an educational session on the topic of Adolescent Reproductive Health. During his session, he emphasized the importance of a comprehensive and responsible understanding of the reproductive system from a young age, in order to prevent deviant behavior and safeguard the health of future generations.

Participants then attended a mental health seminar led by Dr. Muhammad Wirasto Ismail, Sp.KJ, a psychiatrist from the UMI Faculty of Medicine. The presentation covered various challenges commonly faced by adolescents, such as academic stress, social pressure, and the importance of consciously recognizing and maintaining mental health.

The event received a positive response from participants. One participating student shared her impressions: “I
just realized there are so many important things about mental and reproductive health that have never been explained to us at school. This event made me feel truly educated—not just like I was attending a regular seminar.”

Following the seminar session, the event continued with a mock entrance exam for the Faculty of Medicine, attended by 250 students from various high schools and Islamic high schools across Bone Regency. This mock exam aimed to provide a realistic picture of the medical school admissions process and help students prepare academically.

The event was also attended by the leadership and faculty of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, including:

  • Deputy Dean III of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Armanto Makmun, M.Kes., FISQua., FISPH., FISCM., AIFO-K,
  • Head of the Production House Unit (UPH), dr. Berry Erida Hasbi, Sp.B,
  • Vice Chair of the Production House Unit (UPH), Dr. Utomo Andi Pangnguriseng, Ph.D.
  • as well as the team of UMI Faculty of Medicine faculty members who actively mentored participants throughout the event.

As the first medical school outside of Java to achieve “excellent” accreditation for its two degree programs—the Bachelor of Medicine program and the Doctor of Medicine program—the UMI Faculty of Medicine continues to demonstrate its commitment to serving the community and sharing medical knowledge that benefits the wider public.
