AFKSI’s 33rd National Congress & the 33rd
Anniversary of the UMI Faculty of Medicine: A Gathering with the Ministry of Health and the Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia
Jakarta – As part of the series of events for the 33rd AFKSI National Congress (MUNAS) in conjunction with the International Conference and the 33rd Anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (FK UMI), a number of important agenda items were carried out on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Jakarta. These activities aimed to strengthen institutional ties, reinforce strategic collaboration, and make a tangible contribution to the development of medical education in Indonesia.
The first agenda item took place at 10:00 a.m. WITA and consisted of a courtesy meeting with the Directorate of Health Workforce Provision at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. This event served as a crucial moment in strengthening communication between the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the Indonesian Ministry of Health, particularly regarding efforts to ensure the availability and equitable distribution of healthcare personnel throughout Indonesia. The discussion was warm and productive, addressing challenges and opportunities in medical education as well as potential synergies to support the national health system.
Next, at 1:00 p.m. WITA, a courtesy visit and meeting were held with the Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Sulaiman Umar Suddiq, who is also a 2001 alumnus of the UMI Faculty of Medicine. During this cordial meeting, Dr. Sulaiman offered words of encouragement and shared his experiences as a medical professional who now holds a position of trust in the central government. He emphasized the importance of integrity, a spirit of service, and the active contributions of alumni in building the nation across various sectors, including the environment and public health. The presence of this national figure and ministry representatives serves as evidence that the UMI Faculty of Medicine continues to grow as an educational institution of national significance. The event was also attended by the leadership of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, faculty members, alumni, and delegations from various medical institutions across Indonesia that are members of AFKSI.

As a token of appreciation for their dedication and contributions to the development of healthcare and medical education in Indonesia, this event was co-initiated and supported by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UMI Waqf Foundation, Prof. Dr. H. Mansyur Ramly, SE, M.Si, as well as the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin A.M., Sp.OG, Subsp. Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc, FISQua, AIFO-K; the Third Vice Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Through this series of activities, the UMI Faculty of Medicine hopes to continue strengthening its national and international networks and to play an active role in producing professional medical personnel who are ready to face global challenges. The spirit of synergy between educational institutions and the government serves as a vital foundation for creating an equitable and sustainable healthcare system in the future.
The UMI Faculty of Medicine has officially extended an invitation to the Directorate of Health Workforce Provision at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, as well as to the Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Sulaiman Umar Suddiq, to attend a networking event and strategic dialogue in conjunction with the 33rd AFKSI National Congress (MUNAS XXXIII) and the 33rd Anniversary of the UMI Faculty of Medicine (Milad FK UMI XXXIII). This invitation is part of the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to fostering ongoing collaboration with national stakeholders and distinguished alumni.
