Makassar—The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) held an important event on Wednesday, April 9, 2025: the Open Senate Meeting for the Graduation Ceremony and Oath-Taking of Medical Bachelor’s Degree Recipients, as well as the Graduation Ceremony and Oath-Taking of Medical Doctors. The event, held at the Macora Ballroom, The Rinra Hotel Makassar, marked a historic moment for the students who had completed their medical education.
The event was attended by the UMI Rector, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine and his staff, members of the senate, as well as faculty and staff of the UMI Faculty of Medicine. A total of 24 students participated in the graduation ceremony and the recitation of the medical bachelor’s oath, while 66 students participated in the graduation ceremony and the taking of the physician’s oath. To date, the total number of UMI Faculty of Medicine alumni has reached 3,130.
The Senate meeting was officially opened by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG, Subps. Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc, FISQua. In his remarks, the Dean expressed his pride and deep appreciation for the students who had successfully completed their medical education with great dedication. At the same time, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine received the Adi Satya Utama Certificate of Recognition from the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) in recognition of his dedicated service to the IDI organization.
During the Senate meeting, awards were also presented to UMI Faculty of Medicine faculty members. These awards were given as a token of appreciation for the faculty members’ outstanding contributions in the fields of research and publication.
In addition to the awards for faculty members, awards and development grants were also given to high-achieving students. Among the high-achieving students were Dr. Andi Irma Yuniar, S. Ked., who completed her studies in the shortest time with a GPA of 3.99 (Cum Laude) and received a development grant of Rp.10,000,000 from the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s Student Affairs Office (POMD); Dr. Muh. Vikran, who achieved the highest score on the UKMPPD exam, received a development grant from the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s POMD in the amount of Rp.10,000,000. In addition, 10 students who won championships in national and international competitions were also awarded development grants.
Remarks were also delivered by the Rector of UMI, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, SH, MH, who expressed his pride in the graduates’ achievements. In his remarks, he urged the newly commissioned medical graduates and doctors to dedicate the knowledge they have acquired to the betterment of society.
The event proceeded solemnly and with great emotion, serving as a symbol of the outstanding achievements attained by the UMI Faculty of Medicine graduates.
With the conclusion of this event, it is hoped that this will mark a new chapter for these doctors as they make significant contributions to the field of healthcare and continue to uphold integrity and professionalism in carrying out their noble duties as medical professionals.
