The event was attended by the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for South Sulawesi Province, Mr. Rizki Ernadi Wimanda; the Deputy Head of the Representative Office, Mr. Wahyu Purnama; the Chair and members of the Bank Indonesia Retirees Association (PPBI); the Chair and members of the Association of Wives of Bank Indonesia Employees (PIPEBI), as well as officials, employees, and business partners of Bank Indonesia’s South Sulawesi Regional Office.

Dean Dr. dr. Nasrudin A.M., SpOG(K), MARS, M.Sc., FISQua, AIFO-K presented a health-related topic on the benefits of fasting for physical and mental health. He began by explaining that fasting—especially when practiced regularly, such as voluntary fasting or Ramadan fasting—has many positive effects on our physical health. It does not weaken us but rather makes us more enthusiastic about working, with the intention of worship. The Dean provided examples of how some of the Prophet’s Companions actually experienced improved physical and mental health during the month of Ramadan. Scientifically speaking, fasting offers benefits such as detoxifying the body, boosting metabolism, improving organ function, and strengthening the immune system. The Dean also explained how neurotransmitters can influence the way people speak, think, and feel. Numerous studies have shown that fasting can increase serotonin levels in the blood—a neurotransmitter that helps people better control their emotions, concentration, and spiritual focus. The Dean also discussed the movements of prayer and their benefits for Muslims and pregnant women.

In conclusion, the Dean emphasized that what we gain from fasting—both for the body and the mind—is proof of how great Allah SWT’s love is for His people. Through fasting, we not only earn rewards but also achieve better health, emotional balance, and inner peace.Let us make fasting a means of self-improvement—spiritually, physically, and mentally. May we all experience the extraordinary benefits of fasting, not only during the month of Ramadan but throughout our entire lives.
