The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) held a Senate Meeting in conjunction with the Graduation Ceremony and the Administration of the Oath for Bachelor of Medicine graduates of the Medical Education Study Program, as well as the Administration of the Physician’s Oath for the Medical Professional Program.
The event, which took place in the Phinisi I Room at the Claro Hotel on Urip Sumohardjo Street in Makassar on Saturday, December 28, 2024, began with a presentation of the academic achievements of the UMI Faculty of Medicine. This moment marked the culmination of the academic journey for students in the Medical Education and Medical Professional Programs.
The Rector of UMI, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, SH, MH, was present along with the Vice Rectors, officials from various hospitals, the executive board of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) of Makassar City, and other invited guests. In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that medical graduates and doctors are now entering a period of service, during which the knowledge and practices they have learned will be put to the test in the community.
“Today is a joyous moment for all of us, especially the graduates. As medical graduates and doctors, continue to uphold Islamic values through Ilmu Amaliah (applied knowledge), Amal Ilmiah (scientific practice), and Akhlaqul Karimah (noble character),” Prof. Hambali urged.
The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, Sp.OG, Subsp. Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc, FISQua, AIFO-K, also addressed the graduates, urging them to prepare themselves to face the challenges in society. He emphasized that the true learning process begins now, with society and patients serving as the best teachers.
“The sacrifices made by your parents in supporting your journey all this time are invaluable. Now is the time to prove your abilities and demonstrate your best achievements,” he said.
This graduation ceremony conferred degrees on 20 medical graduates and 30 new doctors. The proceedings included the presentation of white coats to the medical graduates and the administration of the Professional Oath to the new doctors.
The event also included the induction of alumni into the UMI Faculty of Medicine Alumni Association (IKA FK UMI) and the Makassar Branch of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), the presentation of the Rector’s Decree to prospective tenured faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine, the presentation of awards to outstanding faculty members, and the presentation of decrees for faculty members’ promotions to higher functional ranks.
Through this occasion, the UMI Faculty of Medicine reaffirmed its commitment to producing high-quality healthcare professionals who are ready to serve the community.
