On Friday, November 29, 2024, the leadership of the Faculty of Medicine (FK-UMI) held a roadshow and large-scale practice exam in Wajo and Sidrap. One of the venues was the As’Adiyah Islamic Boarding School in Sengkang, Wajo Regency. Accompanying Dean Dr. Nas, Sp.OG, were Vice Deans 3 and 4, the Head of the Production House Unit (UPH), the team of lecturers and doctors in charge, as well as student representatives from various organizations.

In his remarks, the Dean stated that FK-UMI currently offers three degree programs: the Bachelor of Medicine and Medical Professional programs, which have been in place since 1992, and the most recent addition, the Specialist Medical Education Program, which is only about six months old. The Dean also noted that this is a routine event, and this time it was held in Sengkang-Sidrap. In addition to serving as part of the recruitment process for prospective new students, this event also serves to promote the UMI Faculty of Medicine and UMI as an institution of education and da’wah within the community. In closing, the Dean added that the Faculty of Medicine-UMI also offers an admission pathway for prospective students through the tahfiz (Quran memorization) program, which will connect with interested Islamic boarding school students in the future.

Also
present to deliver remarks on behalf of the local government was a representative who stated that this event was truly remarkable and generated enthusiasm among the students, particularly those interested in pursuing studies at the Faculty of Medicine in the future. He added that in the future, he very much hopes for further collaboration through this and other models in the context of community service and fostering closer ties between UMI and the local government, God willing.
