Makassar, November 20, 2024 – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) established an international partnership with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) through a Round Table Discussion (RTD) held on Tuesday, November 20, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. local time. The event was held in Seminar Rooms 1 & 2, 1st Floor, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Negeri Sembilan.

The discussion was attended by leaders and department heads from both institutions, who discussed various important agenda items aimed at strengthening the existing partnership. Some of the main topics discussed included:

  1. Writing Monographs and Joint Books
  2. Collaborative Research on Thibbun Nabawi, specifically regarding Ajwa Dates
  3. Collaboration in Faculty Exchanges
  4. Student Exchange between the Two Universities
  5. Ph.D. by Research Program for UMI Faculty of Medicine Faculty Members

The discussion was highly interactive and warm, reflecting the spirit of close cooperation between both parties. On this occasion, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG, Subsp. Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc., FISQua, AIFO-K, stated that the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the FPSK share a similar vision and passion for the development of Islamic Medicine, particularly in the study of Thibbun Nabawi. The Dean of the Faculty of Public Health (FPSK), Prof. Dr. Mohd. Fadzillah Bin Abd Razak, also emphasized that this collaboration must be implemented with full commitment as a concrete step toward strengthening academic and research ties between the two universities.

This collaboration is an important step in advancing Islamic medical education and broadening the horizons of research in the field of health, particularly as it relates to Thibbun Nabawi. Through faculty and student exchange programs, it is hoped that both universities can share knowledge and experiences, enrich their academic perspectives, and improve the quality of medical education.

Through these discussions, both parties committed to continuing to strengthen academic and research collaboration, as well as creating new opportunities that will benefit the future development of Islamic medicine.
