Praise be to God, on November 9, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, a Coordination Meeting of the Executive Board of the Association of Indonesian Medical Education Institutions (AIPKI) / Forum of Deans/Heads of Medical Schools (FK) in Region 6 was held in Kuala Lumpur on November 9, 2024, attended by various deans and heads of medical schools from a number of universities in Indonesia. The meeting was officially opened by the Chair of AIPKI Region 6, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Prof. Dr. dr. Haerani Rasyid, Sp.PD(KGH), Sp.GK(K), FINASIM, and was attended by the Vice Chair of AIPKI Region 6 and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Muslim Indonesia (UMI), Dr. dr. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, Sp.OG, Subsp. Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc, FISQua, AIFO-K.
In addition, the meeting was also attended by deans and associate deans from several other medical schools, including:
- Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS Makassar
- Faculty of Medicine, UHO, Kendari
- Faculty of Medicine, UNTAD, Palu
- Faculty of Medicine, UNCEN, Papua
- UNPATI Faculty of Medicine, Ambon
- UNKHAIR Faculty of Medicine, Ternate
- UMI Medical School, Makassar
- UNISMUH Medical School, Makassar
- UNIBOS Medical School, Makassar
- UNISA/Al KHAERAAT Faculty of Medicine, Palu
The main agenda of the meeting included several important items, among others:
- Discussion of new regulations regarding the management of medical education institutions in Indonesia.
- Review of new regulations on quality assurance and new instruments for LAM-PTKes accreditation.
- The latest regulations on the curriculum, the National International Education Program (PIN), professional certifications, and the duration of study.
- Strengthening cooperation among medical faculties in Region 6, as well as follow-up on international cooperation with Michigan State University (MSU).
This meeting is expected to strengthen synergy among medical schools in Region 6, while also having a positive impact on the development of medical education in Indonesia. Hopefully, with closer collaboration among medical education institutions, the quality of medical education in Indonesia will become even more excellent and highly competitive.
