WEST SULAWESI, — The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) continues to move forward and carry out its mission of spreading awareness by organizing a roadshow, health seminar, and practice test in the city of Manakarra/Mamuju, West Sulawesi, held at the Regent’s Office Auditorium on September 20, 2024, from approximately 9:00 a.m. WITA to 11:30 a.m. WITA.

Approximately 20 FK UMI students, FK UMI alumni, members of the Student Executive Board (BEM), the Professional Student Council, the Student Representative Council, medical students, OB/GYN residency students, 20 medical specialists, 15 faculty members, and 10 general practitioners participated in the roadshow, health seminar, and practice test, which were centered in Mamuju and brought together approximately 125 students from the 10th and 11th grades of 10 high schools and Islamic high schools (MAN) throughout Mamuju Regency and City. Each student warmly welcomed this event, demonstrating their enthusiasm, which was evident from the total number of mock exam registrants.

This roadshow was not only about promoting the UMI Faculty of Medicine but also about providing prospective students with the opportunity to take part in the practice test organized by the UMI Faculty of Medicine.

One of the strengths of UMI’s Faculty of Medicine highlighted during this roadshow is its educational approach, which integrates the fundamentals of medical science with Islamic values. The UMI Faculty of Medicine places an emphasis on student self-development and achievement. Through extracurricular programs, Islamic education within the medical discipline, and community service, students are given the opportunity to develop their talents and interests, ensuring they possess not only in-depth medical knowledge but also other relevant skills.

Furthermore, the UMI Faculty of Medicine is proud to be the first medical school outside of Java to achieve “excellent” accreditation for both its undergraduate medical program and its medical residency program. This demonstrates the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to providing high-quality, top-tier education.

This roadshow was followed by a health seminar featuring expert speakers, including leading doctors and academics. The theme of the seminar was “Preparing the Golden Generation of 2045 in West Sulawesi,” which addressed important topics such as Adolescent Reproductive Health, Strategies for Preventing Stunting in Pregnant Women, and Strategies for Preventing Stunting During the First 1,000 Days of Life.

Following the roadshow and health seminar, the UMI Faculty of Medicine also conducted a practice exam. This practice exam not only served as an opportunity for prospective students but was also intended to give participants an idea of what the medical school entrance exam entails and help them prepare more effectively. This practice exam also reflects the university’s efforts to produce high-quality doctors with a strong moral foundation to serve the community.

The event, which lasted approximately 3 hours, was attended by Dr. Hj. Khatmah Ahmad S.Pi, M.Si, representing the Regent of Mamuju; representatives from the Mamuju Regency Health Office;from the West Sulawesi Provincial PKK, the West Sulawesi Provincial and Regency IBI, Bhayangkari Dharma Wanita Mamuju, the Education Office, and accompanying high school/MAN teachers from Mamuju Regency.

The extraordinary enthusiasm and positive response from the participants, as well as the warm reception from the Mamuju Regency Government of West Sulawesi Province, were expressed through gratitude to the organizing committee and all members of the UMI Faculty of Medicine who organized this educational event.

“Alhamdulillah, this event was very beneficial, especially for us high school students as we prepare to move on to the next level,” said Thyta, one of the students who participated in the mock exam.
