The UMI School of Medicine once again participated in one of the most prestigious competitions for medical students in Indonesia, the RMO 2024 (Regional Medical Olympiad), organized by ISMKI at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya.
At the Olympiad, held from September 2 to 5, 2024, a total of 25 medical schools in ISMKI Region 4 competed for gold medals in six different medical disciplines, including Musculoskeletal, Digestive, Tropical Infections, Cardiorespiratory, Urogenital, and Neuropsychiatry.
UMI’s Faculty of Medicine sent six teams—one for each discipline—with each team consisting of two selected students who had undergone rigorous selection and thorough preparation.
During the preliminary round of the Olympiad, they completed a CBT (Computer-Based Test), and the UMI Faculty of Medicine RMO Team successfully advanced three teams to the semifinals: the Urogenital, Musculoskeletal, and Neuropsychiatry categories.
The competition became even more intense and exciting as it entered the semifinals, which utilized both CBT and OSCE formats.

Out of a total of 25 medical schools, only four teams qualified for the finals across six different Olympic categories: Airlangga University, Brawijaya University, Hasanuddin University, and the University of Muslim Indonesia—the only private university to capture attention among the top RMO teams.
In the final round, which featured the SOCA method and the Speed and Accuracy Contest (LCT)—an event eagerly anticipated by all participants— once again, the UMI Faculty of Medicine RMO team—Indah Sri Rejeki and Nur Amaliyah Rezki Zairah—performed with stunning and convincing skill to secure the Gold Medal/ First Place in the Uroreproduction category, becoming the only private medical school to win a Gold Medal at this prestigious event and successfully defending their gold medal in the same category.
