The Association of Private Medical Schools in Indonesia (AFKSI) held its National Working Meeting (Rakernas). The event took place from Friday to Sunday (July 12–14, 2024) in Building B, 7th Floor, of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) at Swadaya Gunung Jati University (FK UGJ) and at the Luxton Hotel in Cirebon. Speakers at the Rakernas included representatives from the Ministry of Health, UNISBA, UMI, UGM, UNHAS, and several other institutions. Participants came from private medical faculties across Indonesia.
FK UMI was represented by a three-person delegation: Dean Dr. Nas attended as AFKSI Vice Chair and a National Conference speaker, while Vice Deans III and IV attended as conference participants. Dr. Nas delivered a presentation titled “Private Medical Faculties’ Own Teaching Hospitals.” He explained the importance of medical faculties today having their own hospitals and designating them as primary teaching hospitals. He also discussed the need to build relationships with network hospitals and affiliated hospitals. By having their own primary teaching hospital, educational and patient care activities can run very smoothly because nearly all faculty members and physicians come from the same institution. “God willing, in the future we will continue to advocate for every Faculty of Medicine to have its own primary teaching hospital,” he concluded.
