FK-UMI Hosts Runmed as Part of the 32nd FK Anniversary and 5th Spinal Event

The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) held a 5.5-kilometer (km) Runmed event. This event was part of the 32nd anniversary celebrations of the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the 5th National Scientific Meeting and Gathering (Spinal).

The 5-km Runmed began at the Al Jibra Auditorium at UMI, proceeding along Urip Sumohardjo Street. The route then continued along AP Pettarani Street to the intersection with Alauddin Street, before returning to Urip Sumohardjo Street and finishing on the UMI campus.

The event, held in the courtyard of the UMI Al Jibra Auditorium on Urip Sumohardjo Street in Makassar, on Sunday (June 30, 2024), was attended by the Chair of the UMI YW Board, the UMI Rector, the Dean and Vice Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, the IKA FK Board, and the extended family and alumni of the UMI Faculty of Medicine.

On this occasion, UMI Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sufirman Rahman, S.H., M.H., noted that this gathering served as an informal forum to strengthen bonds of friendship and contribute to our beloved alma mater, UMI.

“The 5.5 KM Runmed is a strategic and excellent event because, in addition to exercising, it provides an opportunity for alumni from diverse backgrounds to meet and exchange information,” said Prof. Sufirman Rahman.

“It also provides an opportunity to consider ways to contribute to the Faculty of Medicine to support the university’s progress, of course,” added the professor from UMI’s Faculty of Law (FH).

The Chair of the UMI YW Board, Prof. Dr. H. Masrurah Mokhtar, M.A., hopes that this event will maximize the strengths of the UMI Faculty of Medicine in various fields.

“Hopefully, this event will further advance the Faculty of Medicine and enhance its strengths in both tangible and intangible areas,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasruddin AM, Sp.OG(K), MARS, explained that this event was attended by all graduating classes of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, ranging from the class of 1992 to 2017.

The Chair of the UMI Faculty of Medicine Alumni Association (IKA), Dr. Antariksa Putra Winarno, Sp.PK, expressed his hope that this event would not end with SPINAL 5 but would continue annually, as it fosters camaraderie, features scientific gatherings, and includes many other activities.

“This event aims to strengthen the bonds and closeness among us as UMI Faculty of Medicine alumni and the broader UMI community. The SPINAL event must not stop at SPINAL 5 but must continue on to SPINAL 6 and beyond,” he said.

The fun run started at the Al Jibra Auditorium at UMI, continued along Urip Sumohardjo Street, passed through AP Pettarani Street to the Alauddin Street intersection, then returned to Urip Sumohardjo Street and ended at the UMI campus.
