Makassar, fk.umi.ac.id - The Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) and the University of Islamic Sciences (USIM) in Malaysia officially established a partnership during a ceremony held in the USIM Library auditorium on Tuesday, December 11, 2023.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by UMI Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sufirman Rahma, SH, MH, and USIM Vice Chancellor Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani.
Also in attendance was the Head of the Legal Affairs and Educational Development/Oversight Division of the UMI Waqf Foundation, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Thalib, SH, MH; UMI’s Vice Rector V, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Muh. Hattah Fattah, MS; the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin A. M., Sp.OG, Subsp.Obginsos, MARS, M.Sc, FISQua; General Director of Ibnu Sina Hospital YW-UMI, Dr. dr. Ida Royani, M.Med.Ed; and Head of Public Relations, Protocol, and Cooperation at UMI, Nurjannah Abna.
“Following the signing of this cooperation agreement, various activities will be carried out, particularly in the implementation of the three pillars of higher education. It is hoped that this will bring blessings to the nation and the country,” said Prof. Sufirman
The current educational paradigm demands a strong international reputation, including for UMI as an educational and da’wah institution that has been accredited as “EXCELLENT” and has a vision to transform into a World-Class University.
USIM Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani stated that this collaboration is an honor for USIM. Given that there will be educational exchanges from USIM to UMI and vice versa.
“Regarding the MoU between UMI and USIM Malaysia, joint research will be conducted—for example, on Sunnah foods and the benefits of Ajwa dates. This is not only of academic value but also holds economic significance. There will also be exchanges of faculty members, students, and staff. We will learn from one another,” he concluded.
