Makassar, fk.umi.ac.id - The Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) is further strengthening its international initiatives in the field of education, as evidenced by its increasingly close cross-border relationships.

On Monday, February 19, 2024, UMI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hiroshima University and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the UMI Faculty of Medicine.

UMI Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sufirman Rahman, SH., MH., opened his remarks by expressing gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the President of Hiroshima University and the university’s leadership.

“This collaboration between the two universities, God willing, will be beneficial. Alhamdulillah, we are also pleased to report that eight UMI faculty members are currently pursuing doctoral (Ph.D.) programs in medicine in Japan; among them, four have completed their studies and earned their Ph.D.s, two are new students, and two are still in the midst of their studies,” said Prof. Sufirman.

At the same time, the President of Hiroshima University, Mitsuo Ochi, welcomed and thanked the Rector of UMI and his delegation. “We greatly appreciate your visit and the collaboration between our two institutions for the development of human resources, particularly in the field of medicine,”

The UMI delegation consisted of the Chair of the UMI YW Board, Prof. Dr. Hj. Masrurah Mokhtar, MA; UMI Vice Rector V, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Muh. Hattah Fattah, MS; the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin A. M., Sp.OG, Subsp.Obginsos, MARS., M.Sc., FISQua; the Chair of AHC UMI, Prof. dr. Syarifuddin Wahid, Ph.D, Sp.PA(K); the Chair of AMDA Indonesia and UMI Faculty Member, Prof. dr. A. Husni Tanra, Ph.D, Sp.An(K), Vice Dean II of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, dr. Hj. Shulhana Mokhtar, M.Med.Ed., Head of Public Relations at UMI Dr. Hj. Nurjannah Abna, M.Pd., and accompanied by two UMI Faculty of Medicine lecturers who are pursuing their doctoral programs at Shimane University, Japan.

Also present to accompany the President of Hiroshima University were the Director of Hiroshima University Hospital, Yoshiki Kudo; the Acting Dean of the School of Medicine, Takemase Sakaguchi; as well as cooperation and public relations staff.

Following the signing of the MoU and MoA, the President of Hiroshima University hosted a dinner for the Rector of UMI and his delegation.
