Makassar, fk.umi.ac.id - The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) once again held a roadshow and practice exams for high school and Islamic high school students simultaneously across six regencies in South Sulawesi. This event is clear evidence that FK UMI continues to actively carry out its mission of spreading the message of Islam.
The regencies selected to host these events include Gowa, Takalar, Jeneponto, Bantaeng, Bulukumba, and the Selayar Islands.
The roadshow and practice exams were held on Monday, January 8, 2024—the very first day of the academic year—with each event centered at one school in each regency. The enthusiasm of high school students in each regency was extraordinary, with a total of 1,237 students participating.
“The roadshow and tryout are something new, and we’re really happy that the older students from UMI’s Faculty of Medicine came to give us a glimpse into life as a medical student—which turns out to be pretty fun. It’s not just about reading books and taking exams; we can also develop our talents and interests,” said a high school student who participated in the roadshow and practice exam.
The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin A Mappaware, Sp.OG(K)., M.Kes., M.Sc., FISQua, stated that this roadshow is not just about promotion but also provides prospective students with the opportunity to take part in the tryout organized by the UMI Faculty of Medicine.
“This practice exam is expected to give participants an idea of what the medical school entrance exam entails and help them prepare more effectively,” he said.
As the first medical school outside the island of Java to achieve “excellent” accreditation for both of its programs—the undergraduate medical program and the professional medical program— UMI’s Faculty of Medicine consistently demonstrates its commitment to providing high-quality education grounded in a strong Islamic foundation, with the aim of producing high-quality, highly competitive medical graduates.
