Makassar, fk.umi.ac.id - A major community service event was held by the leadership of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Muslim Indonesia (UMI), together with alumni and the UMI Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Selayar Islands Regional Government.
The large-scale social service event was held over two days, from Friday (January 5, 2024) through Saturday (January 6, 2024), featuring a series of activities including health seminars, health checkups by 10 medical specialists, a blood drive, basic life support training, and roadshows at several locations.
The social service event was officially opened by the Deputy Regent of the Selayar Islands, H. Syaiful Arief, S.H., and attended by 167 members of the UMI academic community, including the Rector of UMI Makassar, Prof. Dr. Sufirman Rahman, S.H., M.H., the Vice Rector of UMI, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin A.M., Sp.OG, Subsp.Obginsos, M.Kes, M.Sc, FISQua, the Associate Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, faculty members and support staff of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, alumni, and students of the UMI Faculty of Medicine.
"The government is very grateful for the presence of 167 UMI students along with medical specialists, faculty members, support staff, alumni, BEM executives, and students at this large-scale community service event organized in collaboration between the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the Selayar Islands Regency government,” said the Deputy Regent of Selayar Islands, H. Syaiful Arief, S.H.
UMI Rector, Prof. Dr. Sufirman Rahman, S.H., M.H., stated that the large-scale community service event is one form of implementing the three pillars of higher education, namely community service.
“The community is the best teacher for my students; It is hoped that this social service event will foster humility, civility, and concern for others, as well as broaden the students’ horizons,” said the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr.
