Makassar, umi.ac.id – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) and the Ukhuwah Islamic Study Group (MT) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) have once again collaborated to organize a joint program.
This time, FK UMI, MT Ukhuwah UMI, and MT FK UMI organized a Roadshow-Tryout and Community Service event in Barru Regency on Saturday (January 22, 2022).
The activities—which included health awareness sessions, free health screenings, and a tryout—took place at three locations: the Thonrongnge Men’s Campus II, the Bulu’ Lampang Women’s Campus III at the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School, and a public high school in Barru Regency.

At the first location (Thonrongnge Men’s Campus II and DDI Mangkoso Campus II), the UMI delegation was welcomed directly by the Secretary-General of DDI Mangkoso. There, they conducted an awareness session on the importance of health from an Islamic perspective.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of MT Ukhuwah UMI, Dr. Hj. Amirah Kallabe, SE, MM, explained that this activity is a form of community service that embodies UMI’s vision.
“MT Ukhuwah UMI is one of the non-structural organizations established to carry out UMI’s vision and mission as an educational and da’wah institution. Today we are here to serve the community,” said Amirah Kallabe.
This alumna of UMI’s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) noted that health is something that must be carefully maintained. To do so, one must practice good hygiene and maintain a disciplined lifestyle.
“Islam teaches us how to lead a healthy lifestyle. By following an Islamic way of life—especially regarding hygiene—we are already living a healthy life,” she explained.
“Of course, healthy behavior means avoiding actions prohibited by religion. We encourage the younger students to adopt healthy habits by avoiding behaviors that harm their health,” she continued.
Meanwhile, at the second stop at Campus III Putri Bulu’ Lampang of the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School, the group carried out several activities, including health awareness sessions for women and free health screenings.

The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasruddin AM, Sp.OG(K), MARS, M.Sc., explained that to conduct the health awareness session for women, his team directly invited faculty members with expertise in that field.

“This activity was conducted with strict privacy measures so that the female students could speak more openly about their conditions,” he explained.
Nasruddin noted that, in addition to these key activities, the university also announced an admission pathway to the UMI Faculty of Medicine based on Quranic memorization. This means that the UMI Faculty of Medicine is offering full scholarships to male and female hafiz and hafizah through this pathway.
Those in attendance at this event included officials from MT Ukhuwah UMI and MT FK UMI, the Dean and Vice Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, as well as UMI Faculty of Medicine students.
