Makassar, umi.ac.id – The Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) has successfully held a series of community service events, roadshows, and a large-scale practice test to recruit prospective freshmen for the 2023 academic year.

On January 21, 2023, the opening ceremony for the series of social service, roadshow, and mock exam activities was held at the DDI Mangkoso Putra Islamic Boarding School and was simultaneously attended virtually via Zoom by participants from the DDI Mangkoso Putri Islamic Boarding School and Barru State High School No. 2.

The series of events was opened by the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG(K), MARS, MSc, along with representatives from the UMI Ukhuwah Islamic Study Group and the UMI Faculty of Medicine Islamic Study Group, who provided education on the Islamic perspective regarding the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and health.

After the event was officially opened by the dean, the community service activities began at the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School. For this outreach activity, the UMI Faculty of Medicine deployed a team of specialist doctors and top general practitioners whose areas of expertise were tailored to the health concerns most commonly reported by the male and female students.

At a separate location—the DDI Mangkoso Girls’ Islamic Boarding School—representatives from the UMI Ukhuwah Islamic Study Group and the UMI Faculty of Medicine Islamic Study Group provided education on proper hygiene practices for women and held a consultation session addressing reproductive health issues faced by adolescent girls.

Following the health education session, the event continued with a promotional presentation on the UMI Faculty of Medicine (FK UMI) delivered by high-achieving FK UMI students. The students appeared genuinely enthusiastic about the presentation, and many raised their hands when asked if they were interested in becoming doctors.

After listening to the UMI Faculty of Medicine presentation, the 12th-grade students who had been registered by the organizing committee immediately took part in a practice test in the classrooms that had been prepared. The promotional session and practice test were aimed at introducing the UMI Faculty of Medicine campus while identifying top students who are expected to become prospective new students at the UMI Faculty of Medicine for the 2023/2024 academic year.
