Makassar, umi.ac.id – The Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) is set to launch a new landmark. It is called Taman Firdaus. The park, located on the grounds of UMI’s Campus II, will be launched on Monday, January 16, 2023.

UMI Rector Prof. Dr. H. Basri Modding, SE, M.Si, explained that the garden is named Taman Firdaus after the highest level of paradise and the most exalted realm for Muslims.

“As mentioned in the Prophet’s hadith, Firdaus is the highest, most beautiful, and most exalted paradise,” said the Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) in his official statement on Sunday (January 15, 2023).

Firdaus Park, Prof. Basri Modding explained, is a place where good people gather to engage in enjoyable and productive activities.

For this reason, the Firdaus Garden at UMI’s Campus 2 is intended to serve as a key element in supporting and driving the expansion of educational progress at UMI toward becoming a Smart University.

“The name ‘Firdaus Park’ is given with the hope that those who visit and enjoy the beauty of Firdaus Park will, God willing, become inhabitants of Paradise,” said Prof. Basri Modding.

Firdaus Park is designed as an open space, so that anyone in the park can enjoy the beautiful scenery, engage in activities safely and comfortably, seek inspiration more freely, and relieve fatigue and mental stress.

He added that Firdaus Park was designed as a comfortable green open space, enhanced by the presence of a fountain that plays the shalawat. This further enhances the beauty of the scenery at Firdaus Park on UMI’s Campus 2.

Meanwhile, the Project Manager for UMI’s Firdaus Park, Dr. Ir. H. Hanafi Ashad, ST, MT, IPM, noted that UMI’s Firdaus Park has become an icon and a source of pride not only for the UMI academic community but also for the people of South Sulawesi.

Firdaus Park was designed as an open green space, providing a refreshing environment for healthy recreation.

“For this reason, we hope that together we can fulfill our responsibility to preserve and maintain the Firdaus Park located on UMI’s Campus 2,” he emphasized.

“So that it can benefit not only the UMI academic community but the entire community of South Sulawesi as an icon of the province, featuring a fountain that plays the shalawat,” he concluded.
