MAKASSAR, FAJAR — The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) paid a visit to the top universities in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The UMI FK team’s visit took place from December 19–22, 2022. The two renowned universities in neighboring Malaysia that were visited were UKM and USIM.
The Dean of UMI’s FK, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin AM, Sp.OG(K), MARS, M.Sc, stated that the visit was intended to explore and identify opportunities for collaboration, which will subsequently be formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
Regarding the visit to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (FPSK USIM), Nasrudin said his team was received directly by the Dean of FPSK USIM, Professor Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Shamsir Bin Mohd Aris.
“During the meeting, several agenda items were discussed, including opportunities for collaboration such as joint research and publications between the UMI Faculty of Medicine and FPSK USIM, particularly regarding flagship research projects,” he said on Friday, December 23, 2022.
One such research area, Nasrudin continued, concerns Thibbun Nabawi and herbal medicine research, particularly regarding Ajwa dates. “It turns out that both faculties have already conducted research in these areas, making joint research highly feasible, as well as research related to community medicine (epidemiology and other fields),” he said.
In addition to discussing research, Nasrudin revealed that another topic covered was the exchange of faculty members. Similarly, student exchanges—specifically for pre-clinical and clinical phases—were discussed between the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the USIM Faculty of Public Health.
