The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) held a graduation ceremony and the administration of the medical degree oath in conjunction with the graduation ceremony and the administration of the physician’s oath on Friday, December 30, 2022.
The event took place at the Claro Hotel, in the Phinisi II Ballroom & Convention Hall. The graduation ceremony for these 146 graduates consisted of 117 medical undergraduate students and 29 medical professional students.
The standard duration of study for medical undergraduate students is 3 years and 6 months. Remarkably, medical undergraduate students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, completed their education in just 3 years and 3 months—ahead of the standard duration.
There were also three high-achieving students, including one who excelled in both academic and non-academic fields (completed in 3 years and 3 months with a GPA of 3.74; received a Dikti grant for community service and an international gold medal in research) and two students who have memorized all 30 juz of the Quran (Hafidz/Hafidza), who also graduated after 3 years and 3 months of study with a GPA of 3.4.
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Muslim Indonesia has established a scholarship program for undergraduate medical students, consisting of a 20 million grant to cover one semester of the medical education program, and 10 million each for the two top Hafidz/Hafidza students who have memorized 30 juz of the Quran.
Furthermore, UMI Faculty of Medicine graduates are entrusted to the Association of Alumni of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muslim Indonesia (IKA – FK UMI) for continued mentoring.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Rector of the University of Muslim Indonesia, Prof. Dr. H. Basri Modding, S.E., M.Si., along with First Vice Rector Dr. Ir. H. Hanafi Ashad, MT., IPM, and Vice Rector IV, Dr. KH. M. Ishaq Shamad, MA, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Muslim Indonesia, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, Sp. OG (K) MARS, M.Sc., along with the Vice Deans and Program Chairs.
The UMI Rector expressed his hope that alumni would continue to uphold the university’s legacy whenever and wherever they serve. Similarly, in his remarks, the dean emphasized the importance of doctors’ professionalism in performing their duties in accordance with their competencies and upholding Islamic ethics and values in their work, he stated.
