BONE,– Located in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Muslim University (FK UMI) held a large-scale social service event, along with a roadshow and a massive practice test for prospective freshmen for the 2023 academic year.
The social service event took place at different times and locations. On November 26, 2022, the event took place at the Al-Ikhlas Islamic Boarding School in Ujung Bone, Dua Boccoe Subdistrict, and on November 27, 2022, it was held in Bulu Tanah Village, Kajuara Subdistrict. The Megabaksos consisted of mass circumcision, health checkups, and health education sessions for the Bone community and the male and female students of the Islamic boarding school.
In addition, a campus roadshow for the UMI Faculty of Medicine was held, along with a large-scale practice test, aimed at recruiting prospective freshmen for the 2023 academic year from the Al-Ikhlas Islamic Boarding School and several high schools in Bone.
On November 26, 2022, the Megabaksos event began with an opening ceremony led by the head of the Al-Ikhlas Ujung Islamic Boarding School in Bone. This was followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the Al-Ikhlas Islamic Boarding School’s Madrasah Tsanawiyah.
This was followed by an introduction to the UMI Faculty of Medicine, a social gathering, a large-scale practice test, and health screenings. For the health checkups, the UMI Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the UMI Faculty of Medicine Alumni Association, deployed more than 20 specialist doctors to serve approximately 103 patients who underwent health examinations, as well as dozens of children in the Dua Boccoe area who underwent circumcision.
In addition, health education sessions were held on skin diseases such as tinea versicolor and several other diseases with high incidence rates in Bone. This included addressing the issue of stunting, which was tackled in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Private Medical Schools (AFKSI) and coincided with AFKSI’s “Month of Service” campaign, themed “Stunting.”
The large-scale social service event took place on November 27, 2022, in Bulu Tana Village, Kajuara Subdistrict. During this event, 200 patients were examined, and dozens of children underwent mass circumcision.
In addition, educational sessions were held on clean and healthy living practices and malnutrition related to stunting. This initiative was part of a collaboration organized by the UMI Faculty of Medicine as part of the Indonesian Medical Association’s Service Month, which was centered in Bone.
The UMI Faculty of Medicine’s social service activity was carried out in collaboration with the UMI KBMFK Student Association, the “Ibnu Sina” YW UMI Hospital, UMI Faculty of Medicine alumni, and the Bone Regency Government in Bulu Tana Village, Kajuara Subdistrict, Bone Regency.
In addition to the Faculty leadership present at this event, attendees included the Chair of Commission 4 of the Bone Regency Regional People’s Representative Council, Dr. Andi Riad Baso Padjalangi; the Commander of Military District Command 1407 Torani, Bone Regency; the President Director and Board of Directors of “Ibnu Sina” Hospital YW UMI, the Kajuara Sub-district Joint Command (Forkopincam), the Kajuara Sub-district Head, the Kajuara Military District Commander (Danramil), the Kajuara Police Chief (Kapolsek), the Head of the Kajuara Community Health Center (Puskesmas), the Chair of the UMI Faculty of Medicine Alumni Association (IKA FK UMI), the Village Head of Bulu Tana, and the Principal of Kajuara Elementary School.
