Celebrating Its 30th Anniversary, the UMI Faculty of Medicine Continues to Thrive and Achieve Success.

The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) in Makassar is celebrating its 30th anniversary. It continues to thrive through cutting-edge innovations.

The Rector of UMI Makassar, Prof. Dr. Basri Modding, expressed his pride that, on its 30th anniversary, the UMI Faculty of Medicine continues to collaborate to achieve the shared goals they aspire to.

“To maintain our current achievements, we must work together as a team. No one should feel superior or smarter than others,” emphasized the UMI Rector.

According to him, any organization—including the UMI Faculty of Medicine—must be managed collectively, fostering synergy among all parties.

“The prerequisite for progress is change. We must adapt and embrace change. The Faculty of Medicine must be able to adapt to progress; otherwise, it will fall behind,” he said.

The professor at UMI’s Faculty of Economics and Business expressed his hope that the most important aspect of the Faculty of Medicine’s extraordinary achievements—namely, maintaining the relationships and partnerships forged over the years—will continue to be upheld. “We must always coordinate between departments so that all systems are integrated, because integration leads to better results,” he concluded. Meanwhile, the Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, SpOG(K), MARS, MSc, stated that a series of activities had been held to commemorate the Faculty of Medicine’s anniversary.

According to him, efforts are currently underway to ensure that the UMI Faculty of Medicine maintains its A accreditation. Or to maximize efforts toward achieving “excellent” accreditation from the Indonesian Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes).

“The achievements over the past three decades since the UMI Faculty of Medicine’s founding have been extraordinary, thanks to the support of all of us. We have maintained our accreditation from LAM-PTKes since 2018. In 2023, we will undergo reaccreditation to upgrade our status from ‘A’ to ‘excellent’ with LAM-PTKes,” he explained.

“God willing, with all of our support, we will achieve the goal of ‘excellent’ accreditation,” continued the former First Associate Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, who currently serves as Acting Director of the Ibnu Sina Teaching Hospital in Makassar.
