The Maros Regency Government (Pemkab), South Sulawesi, expressed its appreciation for the mass health checkups and circumcision event organized by the UMI Faculty of Medicine (FK) in Salenrang Village, Bontoa District.
Maros Health Department Head Dr. Muhammad Yunus, in a statement received in Makassar on Monday, said that this community service initiative is needed by the public. “We
, as the local government, strongly support programs that assist the government in educating the public in the areas of education and health,” he said.
He explained that while the community currently faces many health issues, these are not accompanied by adequate knowledge.
“There are still unresolved health issues—for example, factors contributing to stunting still exist in villages. Thanks to the many programs initiated by UMI’s Faculty of Medicine, these efforts can directly reach the community,” he said.
Looking ahead, he said, there will be further collaboration to more effectively address the health needs of rural communities.
The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware, SpOG (K), said there were three activities organized as part of the program to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the 68th anniversary of UMI.
“These three activities are health promotion, health screenings, and mass circumcisions, with approximately 250 participants,” explained Dr. Nas, as he is affectionately known.
Speaking on behalf of the UMI 68th Anniversary organizing committee, Dr. Hasibuddin, M.Ag., explained that this initiative demonstrates UMI’s commitment to serving the community through public service.
