To celebrate the 68th anniversary of the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) and the 30th anniversary of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, the university engaged with the community through various programs, including social and humanitarian activities initiated by the UMI Faculty of Medicine.
The event, attended by approximately 250 participants, consisted of three main activities: health promotion, health screenings, and a mass circumcision campaign.
The Faculty of Medicine (FK), which offers degree programs accredited with an “A” rating, is currently carrying out these social activities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the UMI Faculty of Medicine and the 68th anniversary of UMI.
UMI’s commitment to serving the community was acknowledged by the head of the Maros Health Office, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, while attending the FK UMI event in Salenrang Village, Bontoa Subdistrict, Maros Regency—specifically at SD Negeri 219 Maros— on Sunday (June 5, 2022).
“So yesterday this event was proposed to be held in Tompobulu, but the regent requested it be held in Bontoa. So, in the end, it was held here. We, from the local government, strongly support programs that assist the government in educating the public in the fields of education and public health,” said Muhammad Yunus.
Activities like this, said Muhammad Yunus, are greatly needed by the community. Moreover, the health issues currently faced by the community are increasing, yet they are not accompanied by adequate knowledge.
“There are still unresolved health issues—for example, factors contributing to stunting still exist in villages. With the many programs from the UMI Faculty of Medicine, we hope the community can benefit directly from them. In the future, there will be further collaboration to better address the health needs of rural communities. “Thank you, UMI Faculty of Medicine. Long live UMI,” added Muhammad Yunus.
