Members of the academic community at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) in Makassar held a joint iftar on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
In attendance were the Rector, the Board of Directors, and the advisors of the UMI Waqf Foundation. The keynote speaker was the former head of the Sultanat Batara Higher Education Coordination Agency (LLDikti), Prof. Dr. Jasruddin.
During this joyous occasion, the UMI Faculty of Medicine presented awards to students who had memorized all 30 juz of the Qur’an.
The Dean of the UMI Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. H. Nasrudin Andi Mappaware SpOG(K) MARS MSc, stated that this iftar was combined with several activities designed to foster the faculty’s development and nurture students’ interests and talents.
“The 30-juz completion ceremony, the presentation of awards to students who have memorized the entire Qur’an (30 juz), and the awarding of scholarships to students affected by COVID-19 for the 2021/2022 academic year,”
He said he felt very happy. The faculty also hopes to receive support from the Foundation and the Rector’s Office, as the Faculty of Medicine does not focus solely on the medical profession. Instead, it aims to continuously enhance the religious understanding of students who have memorized the Quran.
